The excitement to receive my March Birchbox box started in February when I received an email from Birchbox to choose a lippie colour from the Benefit ‘They Real! Double the Lip collection’.
This is a brand new lipstick/liner in one and I had a choice between the Lusty Rose and Pink Thrills or Surprise me. Personally I don’t really like surprises so I went for the Lusty Pink. The March box is one of my favourite so far with more things I can actually use but I don’t like the fact that the Benefit lippie came in a sample size. …..
Without further delay, below are the five items I got this month. If you click on each item, it takes you straight to the Birchbox website.
- Benefit They Real! Double the Lip in Pink Thrills
- Balance Me Instant Lift Primer
- The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel
- Batiste 2-in-1 Invisible Dry Shampoo & Conditioner
- Caudalie Vine (Activ) Glow Activating Anti-Wrinkle Serum
With the two colours available to choose from ‘Lusty Rose and Pink Thrills’, I felt like Pink Thrills was a better option for me but I soon realised I was wrong. The colour is a little light for me if used by itself however it’s nothing the MAC ‘chestnut’ lip-liner cannot fix. I like the wearability of this lippie but it’s a bit drying which is why I won’t be purchasing the full size.
This product it definitely not for me being someone with an oily acne prone skin. It has a creamy/sticky feel to it which is not a good make-up base for a oily/combination skin. With a retail price of £22.oo for the full size, I’ll stick to my regular primer which does a better job and costs way cheaper. I’ll say however that this might be good for someone with a normal/dry skin.
Having received this shower gel in this months’ box, I loved it so much I’m actually considering buying the full size. The smell is absolutely divine and a little goes a long way, and it leaves my skin squeaky clean and well moisturised. It will be a good alternative to my regular body wash which. I will be doing a review on the brand soon.
The Batiste dry shampoo and conditioner is a hit and miss for me. It sure does what it say but it has a very short lifespan for my hair. One thing I like about this product is the fact that it’s non-greasy and it smells amazing.
I must say I didn’t try this serum as I get a bit sceptical about Anti-Wrinkle products simple because I don’t think I need to use them at this point of my life. For me it’s a matter of ‘If it isn’t broken you shouldn’t you have to fix it’ (my personal opinion). I will definitely consider using them at some later time in my life.
